Clickability at the Brisbane Disability Connections Expo
Clickability went to an Expo!

Original article and dated context
After a two-year hiatus, we returned to the Developing Communities Australia’s Brisbane Disability Connections Expo this past weekend!
As you’d well know, we love an expo, as they offer us the perfect opportunity to meet both participants and providers – and support them through the NDIS.
If you didn’t attend, that’s okay. We’ve written a short summary of our favourite things from the Disability Connections Expo, so you don’t miss out. Let’s dig in.
Making connections
One of our favourite things to do at any expo is (of course) meet new participants looking for supports and our accredited providers. It’s a fully-fledged reunion!
We spoke to participants and their families, with many lamenting how difficult the NDIS can be to navigate. This is particularly true for those new to the scheme. We hear you.
Thankfully, we met innovative exhibitors offering niche services from accessible holidays to all-terrain powerchairs – willing to help people more easily access the NDIS.
We were also thrilled to be able to say g’day to the teams from Disability Gateway, Mothers Who Care and so many other brilliant exhibitors helping participants.
We fancy ourselves as a bit of a virtual expo, the perfect place to find supports if you can’t make it to an expo itself. Browse our directory or submit a request for more.

The NDIS Review
We spoke to participants and support coordinators about the recent NDIS Review, with many expressing their concern around what impact its recommendations might have.
In the short-term, it’s important we continue advocating for what we need and using our NDIS Plans as we need them.
Michael the calf
We obviously can’t sign off without sharing Tristram and Tyla’s introduction to Michael the calf. We saw so many providers doing some very cool things but loved this.
Follow an expo conversation with a practical comparison
Make a short note of the service offered, the person you spoke to and the questions left unanswered. Then compare the offer with your priorities, location, budget and preferred communication. An engaging stall does not establish that a service has capacity or suits you.
Ask about the actual workers, costs, notice periods and how feedback is handled. NDIA provider-choice guidance can help you prepare the conversation. Give yourself time to decide after the event.
