How participants can start a housing discussion from residential aged care
Explain where you want to live, what assistance you need and who you want involved. The NDIA’s residential aged care guide says participants under 65 can discuss alternatives with their NDIS contact or support coordinator. Finding a suitable arrangement can take time; the person’s will and preference matter.
Ki’s introduction gives a reason to consider housing choice. It does not supply the details of their move or a plan that another person can copy.
Help make the person’s preferences part of the transition
With permission, help record access needs, existing relationships and questions for the NDIS contact. Ask how assistance will continue while options are explored and how any proposed move will be coordinated. Do not assume a person must accept the first placement offered.
